August 8, 2024
The Benefits of Having The Canadian Dental Care Plan

The highly anticipated rollout of the Canadian Dental Care Plan is underway across the country. The plan will provide dental coverage to uninsured Canadians with net family incomes below $90,000. Health Canada intends to cover up to one-quarter of Canadian residents without private dental insurance.

Benefits of The Canadian Dental Care Plan

Receive Coverage for Preventive, Routine, and Major Procedures

Covered procedures may include:

  • Dental exams
  • Cleaning and scaling
  • X-rays
  • Fluoride treatments
  • Sealants
  • Fillings and other cavity treatments
  • Root canals
  • Periodontal treatment
  • Crowns and posts
  • Dentures
  • Oral surgery when medically necessary
  • Some forms of sedation

Orthodontic treatment is not yet covered, but Health Canada will add it in 2025 for patients with strict medical needs.

Protect Your Oral and Overall Health

Patients who avoid dental care due to lack of insurance coverage or high out-of-pocket costs may suffer from health problems. Researchers link poor oral health to conditions like diabetes, heart disease, and pregnancy complications.

Enhance Your Quality of Life

Patients with compromised oral health often lack confidence and may have trouble accessing personal and professional opportunities. Regular dental care can boost patients' self-esteem and open doors in all areas of life.
