Anticipate the Magic: The Whitby Santa Claus Parade 2024
This upcoming holiday season, mark your calendar for a tradition that has been warming the hearts of the Whitby community for over 50 years: The Whitby Santa Claus Parade! Taking place on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at 10:00 am, the parade is an event that manifests the magic of the festive season in the most delightful way.
The parade, steeped into the fabric of Whitby culture, attracts over 60 organisations who showcase their holiday spirit through the wonderful artistry of their floats. Not just an event to delight the children, but a heartwarming spectacle for all ages and a fitting tribute to the diverse arts and culture community within the city.
Being a part of a tradition that was first organised by JCI Durham, the Optimist Club of Brooklin took over the reins in 2022. Since then, they have faithfully carried on the legacy, preserving the delightful traditions and enhancing the charm of the parade every year.
Know Your Route
The parade route is a well-travelled and familiar journey for many residents, starting at the intersection of Brock Street North and Manning Road. It winds its way southbound, creating a mesmerising spectacle right up to the intersection of Brock Street South and Trent Street.
To get the best views of the enchanting floats and lively performances, line up along the sidewalks and boulevards of the route. Parking is an important factor to consider. As part of the parade preparations, Brock St. between Manning Rd. and Burns. St. will be closed. However, ample parking is available on the neighbouring side streets near the route.
Parade Checklist
An event of this magnitude demands some pre-planning. Start by checking the weather forecast and dressing appropriately. Consider bringing blankets or lawn chairs to be comfortable while you enjoy the parade.
